Kayaking

 23/3/2020

Kayaking

My kayaking adventure from Cloughs Road doublecrossing to our swimming hole, we left home at one-thirty pm expecting to arrive home at three-thirty pm.

I went kayaking It was me, Bro and Jack. I was in my own kayak and Bro and Jack shared one, we had been paddling for about half an hour we came across the first bridge it was really creepy we had to get out of the kayak to get over all the broken sticks. Once we got onto the other side we kept paddling for about ten minutes we then found the Clough Road water hole, it looked like a scene from a movie it was so pretty the water was see-through.

We paddled for quite a while  dodging sticks and floating logs. It was hard but we did it. It was so pretty.

The scenery was amazing. I have never seen anything like it before. It was something I would definitely do again.

Deforestation

 Deforestation

Deforestation happens when people are cutting down too many trees. It also happens when trees die because of many other things like diseases and wildfires. Which is causing climate change to get even worse.

Trees are very important to our health because they store carbon and replace it with oxygen. But a lot of the time it is happening in the Amazon rainforest where people are destroying the rainforest by cutting down trees at the rate of 30 football pitches per minute. And one of the biggest wildfires happened in the Amazon Rainforest.

You can help stop deforestation by not cutting down trees and help to fundraise money, so the government can buy more trees to plant. You can also help stop deforestation by looking after trees and making sure you're only using fallen trees for firewood. So that you don't have to cut any down.

Why Plastic Pollution Is A Global Problem

Why Plastic Pollution Is A Global Problem

Plastic pollution is causing the death of most marine life, like seagulls, turtles, sharks, dolphins, and whales. And without these animals the Ocean will not be able to survive. Like sharks that eat the fish, and this stops the Ocean having too many fish.

Plastic pollution is causing sea life to die so people are killing the fish. And at this rate there are not going to be any fish in the ocean for us to eat.

In 2015 whales started dying because of plastic pollution.  Now over 200,000 whales have died because of this, it is not a nice environment for them to live in. Just imagine, you get up every morning and to get to the other room you had to climb over lots of plastic. Not many people would like to live like that. But this is how a lot of animals are living. That is why we should not litter, because it will reflect badly on us and kill a lot of marine life.

Plastic pollution is one of the world’s biggest problems and we need to fix it as soon as possible. Or eventually it will kill our planet.

We could work on reducing the amount of plastic we use daily to help all our animals. Live happy plastic-free lives. And that means that they can live a healthier life.

What does well being look like to me

What does wellbeing look like to me

With what has been happening in this country in 2020 the word well being has been thrown around and talked about by the media and politicians. Wellbeing is a word we hear often but what does it mean and what does it look like. My name is Tamzyn and I am going to tell you what wellbeing is and what it looks like to me.

The oxford dictionary definition of wellbeing is “the state of being comfortable, healthy or happy” but when I look up the word wellbeing on google wellbeing has so many different meanings it appears to be broken down into mental well being, physical wellbeing, social wellbeing, and spiritual wellbeing. So I am going to explore these areas concerning my wellbeing.

Mental wellbeing seems to have been talked about most in the media this year as experts such as neuroscience and educator Nathan Wallis fears about the ongoing mental well-being effects of 2020. After researching and looking at these articles mental wellbeing for me is being able to accept that I have lots of different emotions in every situation and being able to recognize that emotion and act appropriately such as if I am frustrated then it is ok to cry but it is not ok to punch someone in the face. Mental wellbeing will always be changing as our environment changes but knowing I am supported and loved makes my mental wellbeing healthy.

Physical wellbeing has changed in 2020 as people were not able to leave their houses to access doctors, gyms, parks, pools, and outdoor activities. My physical wellbeing was impacted this year as I was unable to go riding out on my horse. I have never really thought about wellbeing before but this was a huge impact on my normal life. Since lockdown is over I appreciate being able to ride my horse out in the bush and being able to do things in the community such as going to the pools. The foods we eat also impact on our wellbeing. If I eat junk food such as KFC, lollies, and fizzy drinks then my body is not getting the nutrients I need to function properly so I get headaches and tired. However, most of the time I am lucky and have homegrown vegetables and meat from the farm so can have a balanced diet and this makes me feel better.

Social wellbeing being is very important. if you don't have good Social wellbeing you will not be able to connect to other people and if you can't connect to people you won't have a lot of friends because you don't socially connect to them.

What I have realized is that all the areas of my well-being need to be good for me to feel happy healthy and to have good wellbeing. My name is Tamzyn and thank you for listening

 Antarctica
When you think about Antarctica you probably think about it as a death trap but when you look into the
walls of the ice you will find a beautiful place. But there are some downsides.

How hard is it to get a job in Antarctica? Well before you can even  go to Antarctica you need to go to a
happy camper school. Happy campers school is for all people who are going to Antarctica. It prepares
them for the harsh conditions, how to stay hydrated and build a survival shelter. You can apply for a job
as a scientific researcher, and member of the medical staff. Or a maintenance worker.

How to protect your house in Antarctica. Most of the homes are built on hydraulic stilts so you can lift
the homes up so the snow will go under and around the home instead of going over it. They also have
special homes so they do not freeze.

In Antarctica, they have a race called the race around the world. It is called that because they go through
all the time zones in the world. They can not run it because of the high altitude so they use snowmobiles
and other missionaries, and sometimes even sled dogs.

In conclusion, I think Antarctica is a lovely place but very dangerous so I hope you learnt something
about Antarctica. And what you need to survive and adapt in Antarctica.

Trench Warfare
World War One was a tough primitive time of war - basic one to one fighting with no nuclear weapons but there were some bombs during the war. Trench warfare was used to shelter the soldiers from gun fires, explosions and by limiting the number of gases getting into the trenches.

Firstly World War One is very muddy,  and because of that the soldiers got a very gross infection called trench foot, and some of the worst cases ended up having to be amputated. But some people just had a little infection. Some of the trenches had wood at the bottom to prevent trench foot.

In the trenches, all sorts of things lived in the trenches including a big rat called a trench rat. Trench rats are extremely big and they fed on mostly meat but in the trenches, they would eat the leftover food out of the tins. Some soldiers said that they could hear the tins rattling at night also some rats would eat the dead people's eyes and eat away at the people's feet if they had trench foot.

In conclusion, the trenches were not a nice place to be, a lot of people died in the war and it is important that we respect the people that served for our country in the war.

Earthquake

Earthquake

Do you know how an earthquake occurs?
If you don’t please keep on reading and learn about
earthquakes and how they form

What causes an earthquake
An earthquake is caused by a  slip on a fault line.
When the stress on the edge comes over the friction,
there is an Earthquake that puts out lots of energy in
waves that travel through the earth's
crust and cause the shaking that we feel.
In California, there are two plates, the Pacific
Plate and the North American Plate.

What place has had the most earthquakes?
Indonesia is in a very active earthquake zone,
but by virtue of its larger size than Japan,
it has more total earthquakes.

Who founded out about Earthquakes
Robert Hooke said that earthquakes are l
and movements that go through the ground in waves.

Facts about Earthquakes

The largest earthquake ever recorded in the world was in Chile in
1960.
They can cause huge waves in the ocean called tsunamis.

The movement of tectonic plates has formed large mountains
like the Himalayas.

Pohutukawa

Pohutukawa
Gives you shaded shelter
 happiness and Remembrance
Sadness but a reminder to keep trying
 pohutukawa it looks over you
it is up at  the North
 and sometimes in the south
but the one thing it does do is remind us
 of a  man
that we all know and love
and he will always help us when it's tough
But  the love that he had for his family
shall be carried on for the family in his footsteps.

            Lost In a different world

Lost amongst the trees nowhere to go, haunted every step of the way, I start
to take bigger steps.  I hear voices from the past, shivers run down my spine.
I sit down trying to bring happy thoughts into my head.
I feel a cold breeze go past. It made me remember my family,
my past, it made me cry.
I lay back and curled up trying to stay warm as I looked down
the track of evenly spaced out trees, I closed my eyes hoping not to see
this world again.

But I wake up in the morning not at home, not in my Own bed I wonder what
this different world that has been sucked in to is I wonder why I have been
sucked into this world I think to myself is it something I've done is it
something I've said is something I can fix will I be dead. I heard a voice from behind me saying
you won't be dead but the challenges you will face might make you drop to the ground and cry but this is the only way to change your past.

To fix  the things you said  and to heal the broken   hearts That you've torn
apart by your hurtful comments and your attitude to the world, it'll heal your
family of  what you have put them through and you'll be happy together
not a care in the world

Help

Help

Help! I'm hurting, I can't breathe. It feels like I've been running
for years from the fear that I cannot get over.  It haunts me
every day, it's ruined my friendships, it's ruined my life, I'm
hurting and I cannot breathe. I need to stop running but I
cannot face it. Tears roll down my face every day. It feels
like I'm staring at a brick wall that won't move, it holds me
there.

I’m in the corner but I know I have put myself there. There
is this verse that says face your fear but I never listen to it.
I can't sleep at night because of these horrors that fear gives
me, haunts me and makes me cry. It holds me down, it rips
me to pieces every day. Well, I'm standing against this brick
wall looking at it and it won't move. Every time I try and climb
the wall it pulls me back down, it never lets me climb up but
I want to get away from it.  Will facing my fear let me run
away or will I be stuck with this fear forever? This fear of fluff
it's going to kill me one day but what am I going to do? Should
I face it or should I keep running and if I don't will I die?
Why is it important to be hygienic

This Explanation is going to be why is it important to be hygienic

You need to be hygienic because you can get diseases and viruses like
the coronaviruses. If you are not hygienic you can smell bad and
you can have bad body odor.

You need to shower every day or every second day because it is
important to stay clean. People shouldn't just wash themselves
every second of the day because you will waste water, but
definitely have a shower at least four times a week using
soap or body wash.

handwashing is important for higen because if you cough on

In conclusion, I hope everyone learned a little bit about personal hygiene because it is very important.
